Dan Pesula, a member of the Pats Peak Ski Patrol, passed away on June 21, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dan first started his patrol career at Crotched Mountain Ski Area in 2011. He joined the Pats Peak patrol shortly thereafter to be a little closer to home. Shortly after joining the patrol at Pats Peak, Dan was diagnosed with cancer. Many of the other patrollers weren’t even aware that Dan was in a battle for his life.
He refused to let the cancer define who he was. He never complained. He never refused a work task and was always the first patroller out the door. His smile brightened every room and every ski trail. Dan was still skiing just 6 weeks before he passed away. Dan was a quiet hero.
Dan Pesula was a Captain on the Hooksett Fire Department, where he had worked for over 20 years. He served his community in many ways. Dan enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and soccer. Family was incredibly important to Dan. We are looking forward to keeping his sons, Tyler and Gavin, and his wife, Beth, in our patrol family.
Dan was a true adventurer and a lover of life, deep sea fishing and climbing ruins in Mexico with his family just weeks before his passing. Dan loved the outdoors, no matter the season. He loved his family, friends and life. His last days were filled with laughter and love. His positive attitude, humble personality, love for life and friendship will be greatly missed.
