The list below shows available Avalanche courses within NH Region. Clicking on the event title will take you to a detailed description and a registration form. Space is limited, and many of these courses require the pre-purchase of books with an ONLINE learning component. Therefore, registrations often close several weeks prior to the course date.

Avalanche Level 1 for Rescuers - Smuggler's Notch - Feb 3-5, 2023

AVALANCHE LEVEL ONE — Modules 1, 2 & 3

This class has multiple components. The first component is done online; National Ski Patrol has moved the classroom to your house! After viewing videos, the student is challenged by a knowledge check to be completed before arriving in the ‘classroom’. Participants can expect a 3-day program, mostly hands on and outside, that is both mentally and physically challenging. The class focuses on the remaining components on site.

The Smugglers Notch program involves both lift service and touring.  The students should come to class with equipment appropriate for going uphill and downhill. Split boards, telemark, and alpine touring equipment work best. This class is notorious for cold weather.
