Mountain Hosts

Mountain Hosts is a new type of National Ski Patrol membership.  Many resorts that have skiing ambassadors or uniformed mountain hosts are combining these services with Ski Patrol.  For example, Waterville Valley has an extensive Mountain Host staff that helps Ski Patrol with accident scene management. Often the Hosts are first on the scene when an accident find the because they are out on the mountain skiing with the public.

Black Mountain in Jackson, NH also employs a large Mountain Host group that skies with the public and helps Ski Patrol with on-snow activities.  At both mountains, individuals who start out as Hosts often end up taking the more extensive Outdoor Emergency Care course that full Ski Patrollers require, and eventually move into open patrol slots as full patrollers.

In some resorts, Mountain Hosts are a stepping stone towards full patroller positions, although many hosts prefer the ambassador work to Ski Patrolling.  Welcome Mountain Host NSP members.  Anyone interested in being ski ambassadors or mountain hosts are encouraged to contact the Patrol Director of your local mountain to inquire if there are positions open.  Click to find  the PD emails for NH local ski areas. . .
