Sorry for the late notice but just saw that BRASS Avalanche (the Bryce & Ronnie Athlete Snow Safety Foundation) will host a free webinar on Wednesday Jan 5, 2022 to commemorate the anniversary of the 2015 Solden, Austria avalanche that took the lives of Bryce Astle and Ronnie Berlack on a day off from gate training with the US Ski Development team.  The link to register is below:

The agenda is as follows:

    • Welcome from athletes’ families led by BRASS Avalanche chair Steve Berlack
    • Panel discussion on avalanche safety featuring Chris Davenport, Dan Egan and Daron Rahlves
    • Introduction to Off Piste by Utah Avalanche Center Executive Director Chad Brackelsberg.
    • Live screening of Off Piste, the film produced by BRASS with Utah Avalanche Center, documenting the 2015 accident.

The Berlack family has strong ties to New England, and Ronnie skied with the Franconia Ski Club and graduated from Burke Mountain Academy. The families teamed up with the Mt Washington Avalanche Center to present the 2015 ESAW and dinner in memory of their sons.

The 2018 film – Off Piste: Tragedy in the Alps – documents the tragedy and serves as a powerful reminder of the need for avalanche awareness at all levels.

If you’re not able to join, please visit the BRASS Avalanche website and consider a donation to this worthy cause.

Keep thinking snow, and stay safe out there!
