In Memory of Gregor Trinkaus-Randall of Stow, August 16, 2019
Gregor is survived by his wife Vickery, his children Jennifer and Christopher, his brother Erik Trinkaus and his sister Tanya Glass. Gregor enjoyed over 30 years of camping with family on the Maine coast where he taught his children and nieces and nephew to bike. He also enjoyed many years with family at Woods Hole. In the past two years, Gregor did not let cancer hold him back from doing so much of what he loved; biking, skiing, and Scottish dancing. Gregor was at peace at the Care Dimensions Hospice in Lincoln, MA during his last few days. His last week included many visits from family, dear friends, and the family dogs.
Gregor worked at the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners’ as their Preservation Specialist until he retired in the spring of 2018. A Distinguished Fellow of the Society of American Archivists, Gregor served as President of SAA and the New England Archivists. He is perhaps best known for his work in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery for cultural heritage collections and institutions ensuring that they are well-represented in federal, state, and local emergency planning.
Gregor was a ski patroller for over 50 years and loved to share and pass along his knowledge to new patrollers. He shared this passion for skiing with his family. Gregor was both a teacher and a writer of dances for Scottish country dancing, one of his and Vickery’s favorite pastimes. Gregor loved to bike and participated in the PMC together with Vickery for four years while watching the family’s involvement continue to grow.
A celebration of Life for Gregor will be held on October 5th 2 pm at the Stow Community Center in Stow, MA.
