In Memoriam: Robert A. Weber – Balsams Wilderness Patroller
Rober A. Weber was the long-time Patrol Director at Balsams Wilderness Resort in Dixville Notch, NH
LACONIA – Robert Alan Weber of Laconia, N.H, and formerly of Colebrook, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, after a long-fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare brain disease, and form of Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Sylvie, and daughter, Allison.
He was born on May 20, 1956, in Cheektowaga, N.Y., to Howard C. Weber and Suzanne (Hoffman) Weber. Bob graduated from Maryvale High School and Buffalo State College majoring in history and education.
In the summer of 1979, with the help of his brother Howie, Bob moved to Dixville Notch, N.H. and began working at The Balsams Grand Resort as the waterfront director. It is there that he met the love of his life, Sylvie (Jolin) Weber. They met in July, got engaged
In Memoriam: Bill Phillips – Ragged Mtn. Ski Patroller
Danbury, NH-William J. Phillips III, 51, of Danbury, NH, died Saturday, December 28, 2019, at his home surrounded by friends and family after an intense battle with cancer.
He was born in Asheville, NC, on May 14, 1968. He grew up in Fairview, PA, and enjoyed several summers of sailboating with his dad, family, and friends on Lake Erie. He graduated from Cathedral Prep School in Erie and then moved out west, working on ski patrols in CO and UT. He married Jennifer McVey, a friend from Erie, and they eventually moved to Montana. After moving to MT, Bill studied land surveying and started a furniture-making business while maintaining his job as a ski patroller. After his divorce, he moved to New Hampshire to be close to family. Bill met his partner, Liz Bolton, while they were both ski patrolling at Ragged Mountain. They purchased a home in Danbury, NH, and have worked at the ski resort together for the last ten years.
Bill was an avid skier from his first experience at Peek n’ Peak in New York State at the age of six. He was an outdoor enthusiast and skiing was his passion. He enjoyed hiking, camping, woodworking, and even became a halfway decent gardener and cook. Bill loved dogs and he always had one by his side. His fun-loving, carefree energy brought people together. He made friends everywhere he went and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Bill’s father, William J. Phillips, II, died in 1983. He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Phillips, and his sister, Alexandra Phillips, of New London, NH and his partner, Elizabeth Bolton of Danbury, NH; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In Memoriam: Gerry Clark — Crotched Mtn. Patroller
Gerry T. Clark, 74, left us on October 11, 2019, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, after a Brave and Courageous fight with cancer.
She was born in Boston, MA on March 29, 1945. The daughter of the late Frederick English and G. Francis (Meyers) DiNitto.
Gerry attended Saint Joseph Academy and Boston College. Gerry was employed by American Airlines at Logan Airport in Boston as an administrator of Tech-Ops. Prior to that, she worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller at Hanscom Air Force Base and Boston’s Logan Airport.
Gerry’s love of skiing and desire to help others led her to The National Ski Patrol for over 35 years. Volunteering was a major part of her life, for over 30 years she assisted with the New Hampshire Special Olympics as an organizer and the New Hampshire Highland Games as a photographer, and several other organizations.

In Memoriam: William “Bill” Clark – NH Ski Patroller
William “Bill” Taylor Clark, 84 died peacefully August 31, 2019, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania on January 04, 1935 the son of the late Ira Clark and Iva (Taylor) Clark. Bill graduated from Riviera College and also served in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserve than Bill worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 30 years as an Air Traffic Controller. He started at BOS Logan International Airport and then opened the Nashua Enroute Control Center and implemented Manchester Approach control in NH. After retirement, Bill worked at Keene Airport.
He was an avid skier and a member of the National Ski Patrol achieving the position of Regional Director for NH NSP and attaining his National Appointment #5928. In Memory of Gregor Trinkaus-Randall of Stow, August 16, 2019
Gregor is survived by his wife Vickery, his children Jennifer and Christopher, his brother Erik Trinkaus and his sister Tanya Glass. Gregor enjoyed over 30 years of camping with family on the Maine coast where he taught his children and nieces and nephew to bike. He also enjoyed many years with family at Woods Hole. In the past two years, Gregor did not let cancer hold him back from doing so much of what he loved; biking, skiing, and Scottish dancing. Gregor was at peace at the Care Dimensions Hospice in Lincoln, MA during his last few days. His last week included many visits from family, dear friends, and the family dogs.
Gregor worked at the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners’ as their Preservation Specialist until he retired in the spring of 2018. A Distinguished Fellow of the Society of American Archivists, Gregor served as President of SAA and the New England Archivists. He is perhaps best known for his work in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery for cultural heritage collections and institutions ensuring that they are well-represented in federal, state, and local emergency planning.

In Memoriam: Stub Taylor — Sugarloaf Ski Patroller
Robert Edmonds “Stub” Taylor died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at the age of 85 with his family present.
He was born July 4, 1934 to Timothy and Verna Taylor and was raised and attended the schools in Kingfield. He was very athletic and played all sports.
He is survived by his significant other for 30 years, Carol McLaughlin, five children and their spouses; MaryAnne and Randy Goodwin, David and Patrice Taylor, Christopher and Holly Taylor, Catherine and Scott Fast, and Jill and William Harrison. He had 14 Grandchildren, Adrian Heatley, James Goodwin, Cody and Caleb Taylor, Lillian and Avery Taylor, Ella, Abraham, Phoebe, Solomon, and Teresa-Eden Fast, Taylor, Grace, and Brinley Harrison. He had five great grandchildren; Braylon and Olivia Heatley, and Berlynn, Brady, and Beauden Blake.
In Memoriam: Janis Albrecht – Whaleback Patroller
Janis Albrecht, 60 years old, passed away peacefully May 10th 2018. Raised in Fairfield CT, graduated class of 1975 Andrew Warde High School. A longtime resident of Gaysville, VT.
Janis was a professional Ski Patroller, EMT and volunteered with the adaptive ski program for people with disabilities. She patrolled at Killington Resort, managed the Mountain Ambassadors then took over as Patrol Director for a few. During the summer months, she worked with the horse show circuit.
Janis loved traveling, adventure, hiking, sailing and being with family, friends and her dog. She loved going to concerts and music festivals from Jazz Fest, Bluegrass, Grateful Dead shows, and Zydeco. Janis was a happy, caring, joyful person who loved to have fun and filled her life with wonderful experiences. Ski Patrollers and ski area customers will remember her ever-present smile. She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, the Ski Patrolling community and never forgotten.
After Killington, she went to Loon Mountain and Black Mountain before settling close to home at Whaleback in Enfield NH. Janis joined the Whaleback Patrol in 2010. Patrol Director Dave Rancore remembers, “I offered her a paid position and made her my assistant. She brought so much knowledge and experience. Over the nine years that Janis was at Whaleback she help me get my instructors certification and we moved refreshers in-house. She was a true patroller first on last off every shift. Yet you might see her giving lift attendants breaks by covering a lift; working in the kitchen; training patrollers on the toboggan and anything else that the ski area might need.”

In Memoriam: Michael Burns – Gunstock Patroller
With sadness, the Region would like to announce that longtime Gunstock Ski Patroller and NSP member Michael Burns died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 30th, 2017. He served as an Alpine Patroller at Gunstock in Gilford NH for 16 years.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 10th from 4 PM to 7 PM at R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH. The funeral will be the next morning, Wednesday, October 11th at 10 AM, beginning at Trinity Anglican Church, Rochester Hill Road, Rochester, NH with Fr. Matthew Mirabile, pastor, officiating.
